Palm Harbor student earns Troy honors

TROY, Ala — Brooke Slater of Palm Harbor has been named to the Provost's List at Troy University for the fall semester/Term 2 of the 2025-2026 academic year.

The Provost's List honors full-time undergraduate students who are registered for at least 12 semester hours and who have a grade point average of at least 3.65.

Tarpon Springs PD upgrades bike patrol

The Tarpon Springs Police Department has upgraded its bike patrol fleet to include five electric bicycles. The new e-bikes were first deployed during the Jan. 6 Epiphany celebration, where they supported public safety efforts in high-traffic areas.

Electric bicycles enable officers to patrol more efficiently in crowded, pedestrian-heavy areas, increasing visibility, improving response times, and fostering stronger community engagement, the department said in a press release.

Purchase of the state-of-the-art e-bikes was made possible through the generous support of local individuals and businesses, including Electrified of St. Petersburg, Rusty Bellies Waterfront Grille, Ferman Automotive, Hon. Chris Sprowls, Rotary Club of Tarpon Springs, Tarpon Springs Elks Lodge 1719, Bradford’s Towing, Retired SPPD Officer Gerald Scanlon, Seminole Lake rotary Charitable Foundation, Toby and Jamie Paul, Nick and Mary Fiorentino, Landmark Awards, Tarpon Springs Chamber of Commerce, and Marcus Howard.

Tarpon Springs student earns Piedmont dean’s list

DEMOREST, Ga. – Demetri Tsesmelis of Tarpon Springs is among Piedmont University students who earned a GPA of 3.50-3.99 to qualify for the Dean's List for the fall 2025 semester.

Local students named to Samford Dean’s List

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Six students from Palm Harbor have been named to the Dean’s List at Samford University for the fall 2025 semester.

The students are:

• Hakan Rudd

• William Perry

• Summer Chastain

• Olivia Trimmier

• Isabelle Doce

• Lindsay Neufarth

To qualify for the dean's list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework. The Dean's List is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.

Tarpon Springs student named to Hofstra honors list

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Avery Mars of Tarpon Springs achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall 2025 semester, earning a spot on the Provost's List at Hofstra University. Mars’ major is public relations and strategic communication.
