BROOKSVILLE — Outback Steakhouse plans to open its second Hernando County location along a rapidly developing commercial corridor on State Road 50, according to filings with the county Building Department.

The Australian-themed steakhouse known for its Bloomin' Onion appetizer will join Dutch Bros. Coffee, Mission BBQ and Olive Garden on a previously wooded tract that has been cleared for development. A Rooms to Go furniture store is also planned for the site.

Bloomin' Brands, the Tampa-based parent company of Outback Steakhouse, did not respond to requests for comment by press time.

The chain currently operates one location in Spring Hill.
