Carrollwood Day sophomore flag football captain Carys McCreath competed at the Oakley Icon Alliance National Championship in Los Angeles from Feb. 13-15, facing the top eight flag football teams in the country as part of her competitive league team, the Pirate Bay Krewe of Land O' Lakes.
The team finished fifth, but McCreath led the tournament with 11 sacks and was named the leading rusher.
McCreath's performance turned heads. The receiver and defensive back earned a collegiate flag football offer from Penn State Schuylkill, a commonwealth campus in North Manheim Township, Pennsylvania.
The women's flag football team competes in the NCAA Division III Atlantic East Conference as an associate member. The offer, extended by flag football coach Bryan Valentine, marks the first for a female flag football athlete at CDS.
This season, McCreath has 11 catches for 190 yards and three touchdowns at receiver and two pat downs on defense for the 1-4 Patriots.
Former CDS player sets Air Force scoring record
Milahnie Perry, who attended Carrollwood Day for three years before moving on to Seffner Christian, became the all-time leading scorer in Air Force women’s basketball history when she scored 26 points in her career home finale on March 3 vs. San Diego State, notching 1,740 career points.
The senior guard, who hails from Wesley Chapel, broke the 30-year record in her 121st career appearance, which also is the program’s leader in games played. As a senior at Seffner Christian, Perry averaged 16.2 points per game.
The Air Force women's basketball team now awaits final seeding and opponent information ahead of the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championships.
