SPRING HILL – A fire in a dryer caused a business to burn on Tuesday, March 31, Hernando County Fire Rescue said.

On Tuesday morning HCFR responded to a commercial fire at the Asian Massage Therapy, 7243 Forest Oaks Blvd. in Spring Hill.

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the front door of the business that was in a large strip mall building.

Firefighters rapidly initiated a fire attack while simultaneously evacuating neighboring businesses. Firefighters quickly confirmed all occupants of the business the fire originated in had safely escaped. Crews were able to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes of arriving on scene.

The two adjacent businesses to the original fire occupancy sustained smoke and water damage as a result of the fire.

One civilian was transported to a local hospital in stable condition from smoke inhalation. No firefighter injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was determined to have started in a dryer in the laundry room, spreading to the rest of the business.
