SPRING HILL – At the Ariel Springs subdivision, some folks came out around 6:30 p.m. and looked to the east.
They got to see a contrail rise in the east, with a small bit of orange flame at its tail.
That was Artemis II as it rose from the Kennedy Space Center after launching from Complex 39B.
If all goes well, after orbiting earth the upper stage will fire for something that hasn’t happened since December 1972: A Trans-Lunar Injection (TLI) burn.
We can watch it all on streaming video, from the voyage to the moon, the swing around the moon, the return voyage and splashdown.
I raced out into my east-facing yard and saw the contrail.
Go Artemis!
