SPRING HILL — A new Publix opened April 2 at the Seven Hills shopping center on Mariner Boulevard, replacing an older store at the same address that was demolished to make way for the rebuild.

The 48,387-square-foot store at 160 Mariner Blvd. includes a full-service bakery, deli, pharmacy and seafood counter along with grocery, dairy, frozen food, meat and produce departments. It also features an upstairs seating area, part of a design Publix has been incorporating into new and rebuilt stores across the state.

“We’re excited to welcome customers to their new Spring Hill Publix and be part of all the moments they celebrate — from everyday meals to birthdays, holidays and major milestones,” said Lindsey Willis, Publix media relations manager. “This location reflects what our customers value most — quality, convenience and thoughtful details, including an upstairs seating area where they can relax and enjoy their Publix favorites.”

The opening is one of five new Publix locations scheduled to open across three states by the end of April. The Lakeland-based grocer now operates more than 1,400 stores in eight southeastern states, including nearly 900 in Florida.

Spring Hill, the largest community in Hernando County with a population of roughly 123,000, has seen steady residential growth in recent years. The Seven Hills shopping center sits along Mariner Boulevard, one of the area’s busiest corridors.

Customers spotted a large motorized shopping cart traveling through the community, a promotional feature the company has used at recent store openings statewide.
