Have you ever been caught in an earthquake? A chance meeting. A dive bar. Some encounters are so dangerous and so beautiful, they redefine the meaning of love.

Set in the Bronx, “Danny and the Deep Blue Sea” revolves around a couple who strike up a conversation in a bar. As their initial reserve upon meeting begins to melt and they decide to spend the night together, the possibility of a genuine and meaningful relationship begins to emerge — the first for both of them. The successful 2023 Broadway revival starred Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbot and earned two Drama League and three Lucille Lortel nominations. The play premiered in 1983 starring June Stein and John Turturro, who would go on to win the Obie Award for his work.

Jobsite’s production stars Georgia Mallory Guy and Alex Teicheira under the direction of Summer Bohnenkamp. Guy is a Jobsite veteran, having previously appeared in shows like “The Pillowman,” “Constellations,” “The Flick,” “Gloucester Blue, and “The Maids.” This marks Teichera’s Jobsite debut, but he has appeared regularly at Sarasota Jewish Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre, Tree Fort Productions, The Guthrie, Long Wharf, and Yale Rep.

Bohnenkamp is the award-winning director of “Doubt: A Parable,” also written by Shanley, and Jobsite’s productions of “POTUS,” “Constellations” and “The Flick.” She recently served as executive producer of Straz Center’s productions of “Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors” and the world premiere of “The Boy Who Loved Batman.”

Shanley is a decorated playwright, director, and screenwriter who won the Pulitzer Prize, Tony Award, and an Academy Award for his play-turned-film “Doubt: A Parable.” He also won the Academy Award for his script of the film “Moonstruck.”
