Right before kicking off the postseason, Lilly Patton took home some hardware.
The Steinbrenner High School senior pitcher was named the Jack & Barbara Thompson Award winner May 7, presented to Hillsborough County’s most outstanding softball player.
Patton, a Rollins College commit, helped lead Steinbrenner to a 17-9 record and a No. 5 seed in the Class 6A-Region 3 tournament, where the Warriors faced No. 4 seed Mitchell on May 7.
Patton went 12-7 this season with a 2.74 ERA and 80 strikeouts. In her four-year varsity career, she has pitched nearly 500 innings, posting a 49-23 record, a 2.00 ERA and 414 strikeouts while allowing just 136 walks.
Alonso’s Gabriella Werr was named the Happy Home Center Outstanding Flag Football Player of the Year after leading the defending Class 4A state champions to a 19-0 record. Werr passed for 4,980 yards and 81 touchdowns.
Patton’s classmates Elle Edwards and Reece Sellers were named the female and male HALAX Outstanding Lacrosse Player, respectively.
