HERNANDO COUNTY – A 27-year-old woman was killed and two others were injured in a collision in the early morning on Friday, May 22.
At about 2 a.m. a Volkswagen Jetta driven by the 27-year-old Zephyrhills woman was traveling south on Treiman Boulevard.
A tractor-trailer, driven by a 47-year-old Georgia man, was traveling north on Treiman Boulevard.
North of Belt Drive, the Jetta crossed into the northbound lane and collided with the tractor-trailer.
Following the collision, the tractor-trailer caught fire and burned intensely.
Both drivers, as well as a 52-year-old Georgia woman traveling as a passenger in the tractor-trailer, were transported to area hospitals.
The Jetta’s driver later died from injuries suffered during the crash.
