Thomas Roger Chrystie faces sentencing after a jury deliberated 14 minutes

A jury on May 18 convicted Thomas Roger Chrystie of trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, the State Attorney’s Office said.

Jurors deliberated 14 minutes before finding Chrystie, 56, guilty, according to prosecutors. Circuit Judge Stephen E. Toner remanded him into custody to await sentencing.

The case stemmed from a December 2023 undercover operation by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit, which identified Chrystie as a source of methamphetamine in the county, the State Attorney’s Office said.

Detectives conducted a controlled buy in which Chrystie sold them a crystalline substance, prosecutors said. A field test indicated methamphetamine, with a total packaged weight of 28.9 grams. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s crime lab later confirmed the result, according to prosecutors.

Analysts from FDLE testified at trial alongside Sheriff’s Office investigators, the State Attorney’s Office said.

Assistant State Attorneys Lyndsey Pruett and Kasey Whitson prosecuted the case.
