Belleair Garden Club awards scholarships
Two Pinellas County high school graduates have been awarded scholarships by the Belleair Garden Club scholarship committee: Brianna Benjamin and Isabelle Schuler.
The students were selected for their academic achievements and dedicated participation in environmental activities in their communities.
Benjamin is a senior at Tarpon Springs High School, where she is third in her class by academic ranking. She is president of the Environmental Club, a volunteer for Keep Pinellas Beautiful, and serves on the Youth Advisory Board, Dune Committee Chair for Roots & Shoots by the Bay Grant. She also has established a project for a Vertical Oyster Gardens water filtration system. Her planned course of study is hard-rock geology at Appalachian State University.
Schuler has grown as a scholar in her last two years at Jacobson Technical High School. She plans to attend Eckerd College which has an excellent Marine Science program. Her main environmental activities included being a member of FFA (Future Farmers of America) and involvement in leadership training with a mentor as President of Interact, a Rotary club activity.
