Parlor Doughnuts opens new Largo location

LARGO — Parlor Doughnuts opened its newest Florida location at 430 East Bay Drive on May 23.

Parlor Doughnuts is known nationwide for its Famous Layered Doughnuts: a unique take on the classic pastry, featuring flaky layers and a variety of inventive flavors, the company said in a press release.

Founded in Evansville, Indiana, in 2019 by Darrick Hayden and restaurateur Joshua Tudela, Parlor Doughnuts began with a vision to bring people together over distinct doughnuts, creative flavors, and genuine hospitality. The name “Parlor” reflects that spirit — a nod to the warm, inviting rooms where people used to gather and share life.

Commission celebrates YLC graduating seniors, public works

LARGO — City commissioners celebrated graduating seniors from Largo’s Youth Leadership Council and National Public Works Week during its May 19 meeting, honoring local youth leaders and the essential professionals who support the city’s infrastructure every day.

The panel honored two graduating seniors from the Largo Youth Leadership Council. Adrianna Blackwell, a senior at St. Petersburg Collegiate STEM High School, has served on the Youth Leadership Council since December 2022. Andre Corriveau, an IB senior at Largo High School, has served on the council since September 2024.

The commission also recognized National Public Works Week, celebrated May 17–23. Each year, the American Public Works Association (APWA) designates this week to honor Public Works professionals for their commitment to keeping communities safe and sustainable.

This year’s recognition highlights the vital contributions of Largo’s Public Works, Environmental Services, and Engineering Services teams, whose daily work ensures reliable infrastructure and quality services for residents.
