Rotary gives big boost to Temple Terrace’s Free Little Libraries

By Tampa Bay Beacons

Rotary District 6890 showed up in a big way for Temple Terrace’s Free Little Libraries at its recent district conference, donating more than 300 books to the cause. Literacy is one of Rotary’s core service areas both locally and around the world, and the donation ensures that children who may not have easy access to the main library can still get books in their hands.

The Rotary Club of Temple Terrace spearheaded the effort, partnering with the GFWC Temple Terrace Woman’s Club and the Temple Terrace Public Library to distribute the books into Little Library Boxes throughout the city. The response was enthusiastic — at times, kids were grabbing books faster than volunteers could restock the boxes.

Little Library Boxes have been popping up across Temple Terrace for years, making free reading material available right in the neighborhood. If you know of a box that could use a refresh, contact the Rotary Club of Temple Terrace at templeterracerotary@gmail.com. Submitted to the Beacon
