The Largo Police Department announced June 10 that Chief Mike Loux will retire Jan. 28.
Loux’s career with the agency spans more than three decades. He began his career with the Largo Police Department in 1992 as a telecommunicator before attending the police academy and becoming a police officer in 1995.
He steadily rose through the ranks, serving in a variety of assignments and leaderships roles.
In 2023, he was selected as chief of police.
Loux will continue serving as chief while the city of Largo conducts a recruitment process to identify and select the department’s next leader, according to a news release.
His retirement date will coincide with his 35th year of service at the department.
