No Pinellas County softball team brought home a state title in 2026, but the season was still a success with two teams reaching the state semifinals — including one beating a longtime rival to get there — and another winning a conference title.
A breakthrough season for Seminole softball
Seminole softball picked the right moment to get past its biggest rival.
The Warhawks beat Osceola 4-2 in the Class 4A region final, snapping a nine-game losing streak to the crosstown rival and reaching the state semifinals. The Warriors had beaten Seminole in the district tournament two weeks earlier by erasing a six-run deficit in the final inning.
Seminole got there with a 12-2 win over Pasco and a 7-5 win over Estero in the earlier regional rounds. The run came up one win short of the title game, as the Warhawks fell to Columbia in the final four to finish 19-9.
A young roster did the damage. Freshman Ellory Farmer led the way, hitting .424 with a .514 on-base percentage, 34 stolen bases and a team-high 44 runs. Freshman Scarlett Eames anchored the circle with 16 wins, and sophomore Natalia Gipson added 32 runs.
Calvary reloads without Talley, falls in semis
For three of the past four seasons, Morgen Talley led Calvary Christian to a state softball title. With Talley now at North Carolina State, the Warriors had to win a different way.
They nearly pulled off another title. Calvary went 22-5 and reached the Class 2A state semifinals yet again before falling to Oxbridge Academy, one win short of the championship game.
Sophomore Morgan Spinner took over in the circle, winning 18 games with a 2.07 ERA while adding six home runs. Junior Claire Caoili carried the offense, hitting .461 with seven home runs and 33 RBIs. The Warriors got back to the final four with regional wins over Berkeley Prep (9-0), Tampa Catholic (10-9) and Bishop Verot (5-4).
Young Mustangs make a region final run
Northside Christian made a run to the region final.
The Mustangs went 13-9 and won twice in the Class 1A regionals — 8-6 over Neumann and 4-2 over Southwest Florida Christian — before Evangelical Christian stopped them 14-4 in the final.
A young lineup drove the season. Junior shortstop Summer Mack hit .468 with a .571 on-base percentage, while eighth grader Aviana Dunlap led the team with five home runs and 35 RBIs. Fellow eighth grader Hanley Medina swiped 22 bases.
Mondok powers East Lake to PCAC title
East Lake softball claimed the Pinellas County Athletic Conference title with a 5-3 win over rival Palm Harbor University.
The Eagles went 21-5 and reached the Class 6A region semifinals, beating Plant 4-2 before Land O’ Lakes edged them 2-1.
Senior Lucy Mondok carried the team both ways, hitting .611 with 15 home runs — among the most in the state — and 47 RBIs while posting a 1.40 ERA in the circle.
