• Rafael Severino Pena of Tarpon Springs has been named to the Honors List at Graceland University for the school’s spring term.
Dunedin leaders earn statewide recognition
Three city of Dunedin leaders were recently recognized by statewide professional organizations for their contributions to local government and public service.
City Manager Jennifer Bramley was sworn in as an at-large director on the Florida City and County Management Association (FCCMA) Board of Directors. The organization promotes excellence in local government leadership and supports city and county management professionals across Florida.
Nicole Delfino, the city’s strategy and sustainability manager, received the FCCMA Rising Star Award. The award recognizes local government leaders with fewer than 10 years of city or county government experience for their personal and professional excellence. Recipients are nominated and selected by their peers and are considered among Florida’s top emerging local government professionals.
Communications Director Sue Burness was elected to the Florida Municipal Communicators Association (FMCA) Board of Directors for the 2026-2027 term. FMCA is a statewide organization dedicated to advancing excellence in municipal communications and public engagement.
Meteorologist Greg Dee to speak at 2026 Hurricane Preparedness Expo
DUNEDIN — Local meteorologist Greg Dee will be the guest speaker for the city’s 2026 Hurricane Preparedness Expo. Dee is an Emmy Award-winning meteorologist for Tampa Bay 28, where he has delivered forecasts and covered severe weather in the Tampa Bay area for the past decade.
The 2026 Hurricane Expo will be held Thursday, June 25, 5:30-8 p.m., at City Hall and will bring together a wide range of local, county and state experts to share strategies on hurricane preparedness, emergency management, flood mitigation, debris collection, resiliency planning and more.
The expo portion of the event will take place from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m., followed by speakers from 7 to 8 p.m. Prefilled sandbags will be available to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis.
Applications open for Dunedin 2026 Citizens Academy
Applications are open for the city of Dunedin’s 2026 Citizens Academy, an interactive program that gives residents an inside look at local government operations and services.
Participants will receive a behind-the-scenes look at city departments through hands-on activities, demonstrations and presentations designed to provide a deeper understanding of how local government works.

City offices to close for Juneteenth
DUNEDIN — City offices will be closed Thursday, June 18 for an Employee In-Service Day in honor of the federal Juneteenth holiday. Dunedin Summer Camps will not be held that day.
Essential City services, including trash and recycling, Fire Rescue and Water will continue without interruption. All city offices will resume regular operations on Friday, June 19.
Rain barrel workshop accepting registration
DUNEDIN — Residents are invited to learn how to conserve water and make the most of Florida’s rainy season at the city of Dunedin’s rain barrel workshop on Saturday, June 27, at the Community Garden.
The workshop begins at 9 a.m. and will include a presentation on how rain barrels work, proper maintenance and best practices for use. Participants will also receive their rain barrels during the event. Space is limited to 30 participants.
