Touring in support of his new album, “Hope and Fury,” Jackson is on the road for a major North American tour, which will be followed by an extensive European run beginning in September. Jackson will perform more than 80 shows across 14 countries.
Jackson was 16 when he played his first official gig in a Portsmouth pub. At age 18, he earned a scholarship to study composition, piano, and percussion at London’s Royal Academy of Music. During his time there, he worked with a fringe theatre group, studied jazz with John Dankworth at the academy and in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, and played in pop cover bands such as Edward Bear and The Misty Set.
Following a detour into the cabaret world, he had enough money to make a demo. “Look Sharp” was picked up by American producer David Kershenbaum, who was in London in the capacity of talent scout for A&M Records. Kershenbaum signed Jackson to a record deal, and “Look Sharp” was re-recorded and released in 1979.
The album included the hit “Is She Really Going Out with Him.” The same year, Jackson released “I’m the Man,” which included the hit “It’s Different for Girls.” In 1980, Jackson released the darker, more reggae-influenced “Beat Crazy.”
After his drummer quit, Jackson dissolved his band and recorded “Jumpin’ Jive,” a tribute to swing and jump blues artists such as Louis Jordan and Cab Calloway. In 1982, he released what would be his breakthrough album, “Night and Day.” The album included the hit singles “Steppin’ Out,” “Breaking Us in Two” and “Real Men.”
Jackson has released 22 albums, including “Mike’s Murder” in 1983, “Body and Soul” in 1984, “Will Power” in 1987, and “Tucker” in 1988. “Hope and Fury,” his most recent album, was released in April by earMUSIC. “Hope and Fury” overflows with great tunes, clever and original lyrics, and funky grooves, with Jackson’s vocals and keyboard playing as strong as, if not stronger than, they’ve ever been.

This trailblazing new show tells the story of Ollav Fola, the legendary Irish sage and legislator who carried the legacy of one of the world’s greatest kings to the British Isles.
Brought to life by a cast of more than 40 performers, including live musicians, “Celtic Throne II” promises to dazzle audiences with Irish dance, stunning costumes, cinematic storytelling, and elaborate visual design.
The team behind Celtic Throne debuted its first show, “Celtic Throne I: The Royal Journey of Irish Dance,” in Armstrong Auditorium in June 2020. Over the last six years, the company has completed five tours, performing 67 shows in 36 U.S. cities. The Celtic Throne tour window is limited, with shows generally only scheduled in the summer, when the dancers are on break from school and college. The rapper, songwriter and record producer is considered one of the most prominent figures in hip-hop. He gained fame initially as a producer, primarily for his work with Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records. He eventually signed with the label as an artist and released his debut album, “The College Dropout,” in 2004. Ye has also ventured into fashion, launching his Yeezy brand.
