EGYPT LAKE-LETO — AdventHealth Carrollwood will soon break ground on a major expansion, adding a six-story patient tower and other upgrades that will increase inpatient capacity and broaden the medical services it offers.

AdventHealth announced the project June 18 at an event on its campus at 7171 N. Dale Mabry Highway. Along with the tower, the expansion will include enlarged surgical support areas, a cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology lab, more inpatient beds with room for future growth and a new parking garage.

More than 300,000 residents live near the hospital, and demand for complex inpatient care has risen steadily, according to a news release. Many patients now travel outside the area for higher-acuity services, the hospital said.

The June 18 announcement was led by Bob Rohrlack, president and CEO of the Tampa Bay Chamber, and included AdventHealth physicians, patients and leaders, who spoke about bringing advanced care to Carrollwood.

“We are honored to serve a community that continues to grow and evolve,” said Joe Johnson, president and CEO of AdventHealth Carrollwood. “This expansion represents our commitment to caring for our neighbors — body, mind and spirit — bringing more complex care closer to where they live and work. It allows us to continue extending the healing ministry of Christ while improving access, convenience and the overall patient experience.”

The parking garage is expected to open ahead of the tower, which is projected to welcome patients in 2029.
