The tour coincides with a new album, “In the Bay,” released in June. The album marks the band’s 21st release as the ever-prolific J.D. Andrew and Bud Thornton showcase their love as always for the sounds of the ’60s and the inspiration of their heroes.
“When we started this album, we had the general idea that we were going to make one of our more sixties pop influenced albums,” said Andrew. “The songs came very easy and are based on Bud’s time spent on the central coast of California when he was spending time with his daughter at college. But what we didn’t realize until we spent time listening to the rough mixes on the bus during last year’s tour was that we were paying more homage to our heroes The Beach Boys than we had ever done. We didn’t intend to make a Beach Boys-style record, but when their influence runs so deep through us it just happens.”
Formed in 2006, The Boxmasters have recorded an impressive and diverse catalogue of music that touches on their love of a wide array of influences, but most importantly, the rock and roll of the 1960s. Ella & The Bossa Beat return to the Side Door Cabaret for a special concert celebrating their highly anticipated new record, “Amare,” released through Schema Records. The album features all original compositions by Ella & The Bossa Beat, with special collaborator Toco. It includes the successful singles “Amanhecer,” “Areia,” and “Amare.”

His career includes performances and recordings with renowned international artists such as Astrud Gilberto, Bebel Gilberto, Shakira, Grace Jones, Tania Maria, Larry Coryell, Caetano Veloso, Luiz Melodia and Johnny Alf, one of the pioneers of bossa nova. Magrus has released six original albums, produced numerous projects, and is also a member of the Recording Academy.

Late last year, Tame Impala —the psychedelic music project of Australian singer and multi-instrumentalist Kevin Parker — released “Deadbeat,” the artist’s fifth full-length album, via Columbia Records. The deathcore band from South Florida recently signed with Papercut Recordings. Their debut full-length album, “Spill Your Guts,” is due out July 10. The Oscura performance will serve as an album release show. In advance of the album, the band released the single “Reverse Bear Trap.”
