BROOKSVILLE – Hernando County’s schools maintained a “B” rating in the state’s testing with 63% in total points, the Florida Department of Education reported in its Florida School Accountability Reports.
The district is now 2% away from an “A” grade rating after an increase of 2% (24 total possible points) from 2025 assessment results, the district said in a press release.
Three schools fell from a “B” to a “C.” They were D.S. Parrott Middle School, Springstead High School and Central High School.
Hernando High School, Brooksville Elementary School, Eastside Elementary School, J.D. Floyd Elementary School, Deltona Elementary School, Moton Elementary School, Explorer K-8 and Hernando High School maintained “C” scores.
Rising from a “C” to a “B” were Westside Elementary School, Fox Chapel Middle School and Spring Hill Elementary School.
Powell Middle School, Pine Grove Elementary School, Weeki Wachee High School and Winding Waters K-8 maintained “B” scores, while Suncoast Elementary School, Nature Coast Technical High School and West Hernando Middle School rose from a “B” to an A.”
Keeping their “A” rating from last year were Chocachatti Elementary School, Challenger K-8, Gulf Coast Academy of Science and Technology, and B.E.S.T Academy.
Gulf Coast Elementary School jumped two levels, from a “C” to an “A.”
No Hernando district schools were rated below a “C.”
“Our students’ success is a reflection of the dedication of our entire school community,” district spokesman Allan Ellerman said in a press release. “These results demonstrate the hard work of our students, the commitment of our teachers and staff and the unwavering support of our families.”
