BRADENTON — The Nest at Robin’s Apartments is open, targeting renters with incomes of 80% of the area median income for its apartments at 2111 and 2117 First St.

Eighty of the 182 workforce housing units have been set aside for first responders, school employees, city of Bradenton workers and Manatee Memorial Hospital and MCR Health workers.

Studio apartments start at $1,170 a month for 350 square feet. One-bedroom, one-bath apartments are priced at $1,395 for 550 square feet and two-bedroom, two-bath units are $1,735 for 750 square feet. Electric, water, garbage, sewer and pest control are included.

The complex also offers valet trash service, on-site security and 24/7 package delivery room access. Pets are allowed with a $150 pet fee per animal.

The concrete and steel apartments were built by One Stop Housing, which also has developments in Sarasota, Orlando, Kissimmee and Memphis, Tennessee.

“The rents here are 16% below market,” One Stop Housing Managing Partner Mark Vengroff said.

“It’s not about only money, it’s about giving back to those that need us the most,” Bradenton Mayor Gene Brown said. “As they succeed, their kids will succeed and our community will succeed.”

“We have had a great need for affordable workforce housing in this district for a very long time,” Manatee County Commissioner Amanda Ballard said. “I’ve seen hundreds of families succeed by living at Robin’s Apartments, and so expanding that opportunity to more Manatee County residents, county workers, city workers, healthcare professionals, school district workers, is just such an amazing thing.”

Rental applicants must provide proof of income, verification of benefits, a government issued photo ID and three months of recent consecutive bank statements to be eligible. The rental application fee is $40 per adult in the household.
