TREASURE ISLAND — A scuba diver whose body was pulled from the water off Treasure Island Beach on July 5 has been identified as LeeAnn Fay Sellers, 41, police said.
Sellers’ husband reported July 3 that she had gone diving alone off the beach earlier that day and had not come back, according to the Treasure Island Police Department. Police, Treasure Island Fire Rescue and other agencies searched by land and water but did not find her, the department said.
About 6:45 a.m. July 5, a fisherman on the beach spotted what looked like a body floating roughly 200 feet offshore, police said. Officers and firefighters recovered the body, which was in scuba gear, according to the department.
The Pinellas County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine how Sellers died, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
