PALM HARBOR — A Pinellas County psychiatrist was arrested June 30, after investigators said he possessed child pornography.
Detectives with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Cyber Investigations Unit said the suspect is 61-year-old William Hervey, a board-certified psychiatrist and owner of Advantage Mental Health Center in Clearwater.
The investigation began after authorities said they received information that child pornography files were being accessed and shared online.
Detectives said the material involved children between the ages of 6 and 8 and was later identified as part of a documented Russian child exploitation series.
On June 30, detectives served a search warrant at Hervey’s Palm Harbor home and seized multiple electronic devices, according to a news release. Those files, according to authorities, included videos and images of children as young as 4 years of age engaged in sexual acts
He was taken into custody and booked into the Pinellas County Jail on 20 counts of possession of child pornography.
