Freedom Square revives state flag tradition
SEMINOLE — Freedom Square of Seminole is celebrating America’s upcoming 250th anniversary by reviving a beloved community tradition from more than 25 years ago: a display of all 50 state flags around the community’s scenic pond.
Installed in June, the patriotic display will remain in place throughout the summer. Surrounded by lush landscaping, the flags provide a visual backdrop for residents and associates to find their home states and connect over the places that shaped their lives.
“Displaying all 50 state flags is a meaningful way to celebrate the stories that make up our community,” said Joseph Mingione, executive director of Freedom Square of Seminole. “As we look ahead to America’s 250th anniversary, it has given residents and associates a chance to share where they came from and connect with one another.”
The revived tradition serves as a reminder that America’s story is made up of individual stories, memories and paths from every state, Freedom Square noted.
