BROOKSVILLE -- Families, history enthusiasts and all community members are invited to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary at the Florida Freedom Tour, making its only stop in Hernando County on Friday, July 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tom Varn Park, 301 Darby Lane, Brooksville.
The event is free and offers an opportunity for residents and visitors to explore Florida’s role in American history.
The Freedom Tour provides an engaging educational experience outside the classroom while offering something for all ages who enjoy learning about Florida’s and our nation’s heritage.
In addition to the interactive history experience, food vendors will be on site, making it easy for families to spend the day enjoying this special community event. Parking is also widely available onsite.
As the only Freedom Tour stop in Hernando County, Brooksville has been selected to host this celebration for the United States’ 250th anniversary.
Brooksville Mayor Christa Tanner encourages residents throughout the county to take advantage of this rare opportunity.
The Florida Freedom Tour is traveling throughout the state during summer 2026, delivering stories that highlight Florida’s significant contributions to America’s history while inspiring the next generation to appreciate our shared heritage.
