In 2019, Sans Market opened its first brick and mortar location on Central Avenue. The eco-friendly, zero waste store offers products such as natural personal care items.
Expanding the company’s mission within Pinellas County was the logical next step, according to manager Vanessa Moore.
An official grand opening for Sans Market’s pop-up experience in Safety Harbor took place July 18, at 605 Ninth Avenue N., from 3 to 6 p.m. The venture initially opened in May.
“We, of course, have always wanted to grow Sans Market,” Moore explained. “But, we wanted to do it intentionally.”
Company team members have been discussing a possible second location for years, she added. Conversations about the Safety Harbor pop-up began in late 2025. Originally, the establishment was expected to open in April around Earth Day. However, there were delays in the process.
The new location shares a store frontage with Sans Market owner Eniko Olah’s mother’s business, First Quality Sausage.
“So, the pop-up made the most sense because we are able to tap into the north Pinellas community,” Moore said. “Maybe we can attract people who don’t get to downtown super often, but they do want to support what we are doing and our mission.”
She added that the St. Petersburg store is visited by customers from Dunedin, Clearwater and Palm Harbor. Having a presence closer to the area could encourage more interaction. “For us, it’s tapping into a new community, but also getting our toes wet a little bit as far as having a second location,” Moore said, “and seeing how we can balance that and what our capacity is like.”
She explained that the summer season is often slow for downtown St. Petersburg businesses. The Safety Harbor pop-up can help the company “reach new clientele” and “balance out” sales.
Moore and the team hope that the establishment can become permanent.
While the Safety Harbor location is smaller than the Central Avenue store, she added, it features many customer favorite and best seller items. “Sans in Latin means ‘without’,” Moore said. “So, our main purpose and mission is to help our customers live without harmful toxics, excess packaging and plastic.”
Clients can refill their product containers similar to the St. Petersburg location. As a result, they do not have to reuse packaging. Customers can purchase items such as laundry detergent, body wash, hand soap and food in bulk.
Moore understands firsthand the impact of green and sustainable living. She joined the team a few years ago after meeting Olah at an event.
“Eniko was talking about Sans Market and its mission, and it kind of spoke to me,” Moore said. “I went down the rabbit hole of zero waste, refilling and all of these buzz words and ‘why is plastic is bad?’ I really resonated with it.”
