A Seminole man is facing a first-degree murder charge after deputies say he killed his 82-year-old mother on Monday.

The investigation began shortly after 4 p.m., when multiple 911 callers reported an injured man covered in blood on the north side of 86th Avenue North, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. When deputies arrived, they found Jason Suhadolnik, 52, being treated by paramedics.

Deputies entered a home in the 9500 block of 86th Avenue North and saw Suhadolnik’s mother, Patty Suhadolnik, covered in blood on the kitchen floor.

Both were taken to the hospital, where Patty Suhadolnik was pronounced dead.

Detectives determined that a “violent altercation ensued with a knife, causing fatal injuries to Patty and injuries to Jason’s hands,” the news release states.

Suhadolnik was taken into custody on a charge of first-degree murder and violation of probation. He will be transferred to the Pinellas County Jail once he is released from the hospital, the sheriff’s office said Tuesday.

Court records show Suhadolnik was serving a three-year probation sentence on charges including battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence stemming from a 2023 arrest.
