PALMETTO — If you thought there were way more kids than usual on the Green Bridge on Saturday, Aug. 15, you were right. More than 130 young people showed up to the inaugural Teaching Kids To Fish Fishing Camp sponsored by Skyway Bait and Tackle.
With only two months’ preparation time and being the first event for the group, winners’ names were unavailable at press time, but they are pictured here.
“We missed so many things, but the kids had fun and learned a lot,” said Eric Gilbert, of Skyway Bait and Tackle. “We will host another event about the same time next year and will need sponsors and volunteers!”
Sponsors included Kiwanis Club of North Manatee, Redbone Performance Salt Gear, Pence Live Bait, Bill Lee’s Professional Automotive Services, Florida Tackle Supply, North Manatee Realty, Manatee Aerial Imaging, A.P. Bell Fish Co., Kaizen Dojo, Slayer Premium Fishing Tackle, Baitmasters and Discount Tackle Outlet.
