Some dogs come into the shelter and immediately steal your heart. Cheddar (A006616) is one of those dogs. At 9 years old and 50 pounds, this gentleman has mastered the art of being a wonderful companion. He’s housebroken, walks nicely on leash, enjoys car rides, and is wonderfully polite. His idea of making a fuss is simply letting you know when someone is at the door. What he’s looking for is pretty simple: a comfortable home, a loving family, leisurely walks, and someone who will appreciate the sweet, steady companion he is. If you have other dogs, we encourage a meet-and-greet at the shelter to make sure everyone is the perfect match. Cheddar is current on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. He also comes with a one-year Hernando County License.

Romy (A007323) is the kind of girl who reminds us that sometimes the sweetest souls just need someone to believe in them. When Romy first arrived, she was so unsure of the world around her that she would flatten herself and crawl. She’s learning that people can be good, and as her confidence grows, staff are getting to see more and more of the sweet personality hiding underneath that shyness. Romy may still be hesitant with new people, but once she trusts you, she genuinely enjoys interacting with you. She’s sweet, gentle, and seems willing to learn. She needs someone willing to give her a chance outside of the shelter. Romy is current on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. She also comes with a one-year Hernando County License.
