ST. PETE BEACH — The St. Pete Beach Public Library has announced its schedule of activities.
• Wednesday, Aug. 26, 4 p.m. — Read Together Book Club: “The Wishing Spell.” Read the Chris Colfer novel beforehand, as a family or independently, then join the discussion and activities inspired by the book.
• Thursday, Aug. 27, 10-11 a.m. — Inclusive Art Hour with Creative Clay: Make art alongside teaching and member artists from Creative Clay, whose mission is to help people with disabilities lead full, inclusive lives through expressive, educational and vocational experiences in the arts. There is no right or wrong way to create, and all materials are provided.
• Friday, Aug. 28, noon — Feature film: Popcorn and a movie. Visit spblibrary.com for details.
• Saturday, Aug. 29, 1-3:30 p.m. — Open mahjong: Bring friends and play. Not instructional.
• Saturday, Aug. 29, 2-3:30 p.m. — Tech help by appointment: Help with technology basics for phones, computers and library applications. No repairs. Because the program takes place after regular library hours, all other library services will be suspended.

MADEIRA BEACH — The Gulf Beaches Public Library has released its latest schedule of activities.
• Writers Group: Mondays, 10 a.m. to noon.
• Adult Coloring Book Group: Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to noon.
• Mahjong: Thursdays, 11 a.m. Old and new members welcome.
• Investment Club: Thursdays, 2:30-4 p.m.
• Meditation: Fridays, 11 a.m. to noon. Relax and rejuvenate at the end of the week.
• Scrabble: Fridays, 1-4 p.m.
• Storytime: Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m., ages 2 and under; Fridays, 10:30 a.m., ages 2-4.
• A Novel Book Club: The new club focuses on fiction, from hidden gems to cult favorites, and meets every two weeks at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8: “Part of Your World” by Abby Jimenez. Tuesday, Sept. 22: “Because I Could Not Stop for Death” by Amanda Flower.
• Book Lovers Club: Tuesday, Sept. 15, 10:30 a.m., “The Great Divide” by Cristina Henríquez.
The library is accepting gently used book donations; no textbooks. It also offers ongoing help with library apps such as Kanopy, Hoopla and Libby.

Kolter Urban and Smith named ‘Taste’ presenting sponsors
ST. PETE BEACH — The Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce has named Kolter Urban and Smith & Associates Real Estate the presenting sponsors of the 2026 Taste of the Beaches, set for Oct. 3-11, with a kickoff party Oct. 2 at Horan Park in St. Pete Beach.
Kolter Urban is planning a waterfront development at the east end of Corey Avenue in St. Pete Beach. The proposed project would combine residences with retail and restaurant space, public gathering areas and expanded waterfront access.
During Taste of the Beaches, a $10 taste ticket can be redeemed for a signature dish at participating restaurants across the Tampa Bay beaches. Proceeds support local businesses and this year’s nonprofit partner, Habitat for Humanity Tampa Bay Gulfside.

Treasure Island sets hearings on FY27 budget
TREASURE ISLAND — The city will hold two public hearings in September on its proposed fiscal year 2027 budget.
Residents can share ideas, priorities and concerns with city leaders at the hearings.
The first is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9. The second is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Registration open for 9/11 memorial walk
TREASURE ISLAND — Registration is open for the Treasure Island Fire Rescue 9/11 Memorial Walk.
The 3.43-mile route honors the 343 firefighters killed at the World Trade Center. It begins at 8:46 a.m., the moment the North Tower was struck, at the Freedom Boat Club, 12765 Kingfish Drive, and ends at the Heron parking lot on Sunset Beach, 7545 Bayshore Drive.
All ages are welcome. The route follows Gulf Boulevard, with refreshments along the way.
Free parking is available at all Sunset Beach lots and City Hall. A shuttle will run to the starting point throughout the morning and back afterward.

Free sea oats offered to some beach properties
INDIAN SHORES — Pinellas County is accepting requests for its 2026 sea oat giveaway from property owners who did not receive dunes or vegetation in 2025.
Requests are due Aug. 27 and should be emailed to jangelo@myindianshores.com with “ATTN: SEA OAT GIVEAWAY” in the subject line, in all capital letters.
Requests must include proof that the sender is the upland property owner or is working on the owner’s behalf; a sketch or plan of the area proposed for planting, which cannot be too close to the mean high-water line; and the number of plants requested.
A pickup date will be set once the county completes a plant count and schedules a delivery driver for September.
