BROOKSVILLE – The Live Oak Theatre is offering a special performance of “The Diary of Anne Frank” for school and homeschool groups on Friday, Sept. 11 at 2:30 p.m. There is a special K-12 student rate just for that performance.
Students may buy seats at the children’s price of $10.

“The Diary of Anne Frank” remains deeply relevant for students today. It bridges massive historical events and personal adolescence.
Anne’s personal experience, as depicted in her diary, provides a deeply human, first-person account of life in hiding from Nazi persecution during the Holocaust. It especially personalizes the immense tragedy of the war, transforming an abstract statistic of millions of victims into a relatable, individual story that continues to teach people about hope, resilience, and the dangers of hatred.
The play connects students to the Holocaust through the eyes of a peer rather than distant textbook numbers.
Remarkably, the diary survived. After the war, Otto Frank — Anne’s father and the family’s only surviving member — edited and published his daughter’s diary as “The Diary of a Young Girl.”
The book became required reading for the postwar generation.

Strong ticket demand has led the Live Oak Theatre to add a sixth performance of “The Diary of Anne Frank,” a 7:30 p.m. show Sunday, Sept. 13.
The play runs one weekend only, Sept. 11-13, with matinees at 2:30 p.m. and evening shows at 7:30 p.m. each day.
