City to hold meetings on property tax
DUNEDIN — City officials will host a Town Hall on property taxes Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the Hale Senior Activity Center.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. and feature a panel of speakers, including former Florida state Sen. Jeff Brandes, Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri and Dunedin Mayor Maureen “Moe” Freaney.
The public can submit questions for the speakers before the meeting by emailing Communications@Dunedin.gov. Questions will be accepted through Sept. 10. Event participants will also be able to submit written questions in person.
A second Property Tax Town Hall is scheduled for Oct. 6.
Landscaping work continues along Skinner Boulevard
DUNEDIN — Work continues on the Florida Department of Transportation’s Skinner Boulevard Improvement Project, Dunedin city officials report in the city’s newsletter.
All irrigation lines are now complete at the Highland Avenue roundabout. Work at the Douglas Avenue roundabout is progressing as scheduled, with irrigation expected to be finished by the end of the month. Residents may continue to see crews in both areas as the new irrigation systems are tested.
Landscaping is also underway with the planting of trees. The landscaping will include a variety of palms, canopy trees, understory trees and shrubs along Skinner Boulevard from Broadway to Main Street/Bass Boulevard.
Hearings set for proposed FY 2027 budget, Causeway ordinance
DUNEDIN — City commissioners will hold the first public hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year 2027 budget during the Sept. 3 city commission meeting at 6 p.m. at Dunedin City Hall.
The proposed budget was presented to commissioners during their second budget workshop on Aug. 4.
In addition to the proposed budget, the city has prepared a proposed property tax reform contingency budget, which will be reviewed at a special city commission meeting in September. The contingency plan addresses the potential financial impacts of the property tax amendment that will appear on the November ballot.
Also scheduled for the Sept. 3 meeting is the second and final public hearing on the proposed ordinance to prohibit the launching of motorized watercraft from the south side of the Dunedin Causeway.
Board of Finance seeks new members
DUNEDIN — The city of Dunedin is seeking residents interested in serving on the Board of Finance, which will have two vacancies beginning Oct. 1.
The Board of Finance serves in an advisory role to the city commission and city manager on matters related to the city’s financial affairs. The board consists of nine regular members and two alternate members who serve three-year terms.

Dunedin sets solar information session
DUNEDIN — The city of Dunedin and Solar United Neighbors will host a free Solar Information Session on Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Dunedin Public Library. The event will introduce residents, businesses and nonprofit organizations to Switch Together, a group solar purchasing program designed to make going solar more affordable and accessible.
Solar United Neighbors staff will be available to answer questions about solar energy, Switch Together and other available resources. Information about the City’s rebate programs will also be shared.

Marina to host boater safety course
DUNEDIN — The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla Dunedin 11-10 will offer a two-day Boater Safety Course at the marina from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 13. Upon completion, participants will receive a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Safe Boating ID card.
