BRADENTON — City government and police department staff are preparing to relocate their offices at Bradenton City Hall, 101 12th St. W., to two different locations.
The city plans to sell the building — which fronts the Manatee River and the Twin Dolphin Marina — for $14.1 million to West Palm Beach-based L&L Development Group. The developer plans to demolish City Hall to make way for The Vias, a 20-story residential building, a 14-story hotel and an eight-story parking garage.
City officials are working with Manatee County officials on a potential agreement that would allow the city to temporarily occupy two floors of the Manatee County Administration Building, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., sometime in the first quarter of next year, city Public Information Manager Tiffany Shadick said.
The Bradenton Police Department will relocate to a new, $33.9 million building under construction at 255 Sixth Ave. W. sometime between December and January, she said, adding that the PD building recently had floor-to-ceiling glass installed in the main lobby, with exterior and interior construction continuing as crews prepare to paint and bring the building fully under air conditioning.
The city’s long-term goal is to build a permanent City Hall, with the timeline for that project dependent on available funding, Shadick said.
