SPRING HILL — A $15.2 million freestanding emergency room is now open on Spring Hill Drive, bringing round-the-clock emergency care to a fast-growing stretch of south Hernando County.
HCA Florida Oak Hill South Emergency, part of HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital, treated its first patients Aug. 10. It is the first freestanding emergency room in the county affiliated with the hospital.
The center, at 11242 Spring Hill Drive near Mariner Boulevard, is staffed by board-certified physicians, nurses and technicians trained to handle a wide range of medical emergencies.
The building has 10 private treatment rooms, a dedicated trauma room, an on-site laboratory and imaging that includes CT scans, X-rays and ultrasound. Staff can diagnose and treat urgent conditions including:
• Fractures, lacerations and other injuries
• Stomach and abdominal pain
• Breathing difficulties and upper respiratory infections
• Chest pain and heart attacks
• Strokes and seizures
“By opening this new location in south Hernando County, we are expanding access to the same high-quality, around-the-clock emergency services our community relies on,” said Ken Wicker, CEO of HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital.

The center links south Hernando County to HCA Florida Healthcare, which operates more than 650 affiliated care sites across the state.
