The arrival of migratory white pelicans to Manatee County preserves in October is a sure sign that tourist season, which reaches its peak in mid-March and lasts through Easter, is nearly here. Snowbird tourists who visited for two or three winter months from northern climes have become rare, with short-term vacation rentals comprising the vast majority of local visitation.
